Kid & Grown-up
You know, sometimes I feel like I'm already an adult, other times I feel like I've been treated like a kid. Not that either way is bad, I'm actually quite neutral towards it.
So today after I got home, I realised that it must have been long since my mum last went to clear our letterbox, so after I put down my bag I took the letterbox key and went downstairs. The letterbox was filled with letters addressed to Ms Mak Xue Wei, how interesting. I got statements from banks, received my debit card, confirmation letter for my CPF and even pay slip from SNEC. All these made me feel like a grown-up, one that needs to mend her finance and worry about paying bills. I dont know if this is a good feeling or not, because even though I felt that I'm actually in control, it also means that I've more things to worry for.
Anyway, after I bring up all the letters from downstairs, I came home to find no one in the house (my dad and mum went out to shop for grocery) so I watched TV for awhile. When Mdm Goon (my mum) returned, she tried to make up for leaving me alone at home by giving me a triple combo pack of Kinder Bueno. WOW. It has been almost a year since I've last ate one. Haha.
I remembered as a kid my dad always come home with many sweets in his pockets, and my brother and I were supposed to search his pockets for sweets. So every evening was moment my brother and I anticipated for. And surprisingly, receiving Kinder Bueno actually brought back that kid in me, even though I'm going to turn 20 next year. =.= (old bird)
I read it somewhere that to all the parents, their children will always be children. So maybe in the eyes of my mum and dad, no matter how much I've grown out of those little dresses, I'll always be the little girl who awaits every evening.
